The SLBC Tunnel, officially known as the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation Tunnel, is a historical underground tunnel located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It was originally constructed during World War II by the British military.
Its primary purpose was to serve as a bomb shelter for the employees of Radio Ceylon, which later became the Sri%20Lanka%20Broadcasting%20Corporation (SLBC). The tunnel provided protection during potential air raids.
The tunnel is quite long and complex, featuring multiple entrances and exits. Inside, there are several rooms and corridors. While it is no longer in active use as a bomb shelter, it stands as a significant piece of wartime history in Sri Lanka. It is considered a historic place. Today, some parts of it are not accessible for public due to safety concerns.
